Here you’ll find posts describing recent biological research, written up for a wider audience than the journals in which it is published. You’ll find studies in evolutionary biology, circadian biology, genomics and where physics and biology overlap. Often they are studies that haven’t been covered by the wider press, but they are no less interesting. With the research that has been picked up by the media outlets, I try to explain its significance from a fresh angle, often by linking and comparing it with important prior research within the field or by revealing interesting details that the media might have missed.
The research often comes from open access journals, but when it doesn’t I try link to open repositories or author’s own webpages to ensure that all audiences can reach even paywalled research. And if that’s not successful, hopefully my posts explain enough.
